Four Nabbed Over Mob Killing of Kwara Chief Imam

The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of four suspects over the brutal killing of the Chief Imam of Tsaragi in Edu Local Government Area of the state.
The cleric, identified as Alhaji Abdullahi Audu, was reportedly lynched by an angry mob following accusations of witchcraft linked to the death of a 25-year-old man, Ibrahim Gana, who had died after a prolonged illness.
According to the police, the deceased’s brothers, Mohammed Shaba and Mahmud Gana, had accused the Imam of causing their sibling’s death, an allegation that sparked the violent attack leading to the cleric’s murder.
Police spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said in a statement on Thursday that operatives swiftly responded to the scene and apprehended four suspects in connection with the incident.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, described the killing as a tragic case of jungle justice and warned residents against taking the law into their own hands.
He stressed that such acts of violence are criminal and punishable under the law, adding that investigations are ongoing to bring all perpetrators to justice.
