The Department of State Services (DSS) has relieved 115 officers of their duties as part of ongoing internal reforms designed to strengthen discipline and professionalism within the organisation.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Service said the dismissals were carried out over a period of time following thorough internal reviews and disciplinary processes aimed at sanitising the system.

The DSS explained that the exercise was part of its renewed commitment to rid the agency of officers found wanting in conduct or involved in acts of corruption.

It also cautioned members of the public against dealing with dismissed officers who still parade themselves as active personnel, warning that such individuals are engaging in fraudulent activities.

“In addition to earlier disclaimers on the duo of Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, the Service finds it necessary to alert citizens about the criminal activities of some dismissed staff posing as DSS operatives,” the statement read in part.

The Service advised Nigerians to verify the identity of any operative before engaging in official transactions, adding that the list of affected personnel has been published on its official website for public awareness.

The statement reaffirmed the DSS’s commitment to maintaining integrity, accountability, and professionalism in the discharge of its national security responsibilities.
