The Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended all party meetings across the state following the escalating crisis rocking the party’s national leadership and the suspension of four key national officers.
The decision was taken in response to developments from the 608th meeting of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC), held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, where the following officials were suspended for one month pending further investigation by the National Disciplinary Committee:
• Senator Samuel Anyanwu – National Secretary
• Hon. Umar Bature – National Organizing Secretary
• Barr. Kamaldeen Ajibade, SAN – National Legal Adviser
• Barr. Okechukwu Osuoha – Deputy National Legal Adviser
In a statement issued in Osogbo, the State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Hon. Ayodeji Areola, said the Osun chapter has resolved to place a temporary hold on all meetings at the ward, local government, senatorial, and state levels until the party’s national crisis is properly addressed.
“In light of the current developments at the national level and the temporary suspension of key party officers, the Osun State Working Committee has decided to suspend all party meetings across the state until further notice,” the statement read. “This measure is taken in the best interest of the party to preserve unity, discipline, and cohesion among members.”
Areola appealed to party members to remain calm, loyal, and steadfast, assuring that the internal crisis would be handled through established reconciliation and disciplinary channels.
“The Osun PDP appreciates the patience and commitment of our members. We urge everyone to avoid statements or actions capable of worsening the situation. The party remains solidly behind the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke, and we are confident that the current challenges will be resolved amicably,” he said.
