Osun PDP Downplays Court Ruling, Says Party Activities Remain On Course
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has urged its members and supporters to remain calm following Friday’s court pronouncement concerning the party’s forthcoming national convention.
In a statement issued in Osogbo and signed by its State Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, the party maintained that the development does not in any way affect the smooth operation of the PDP, either at the national or state level.
Bisi assured that all internal political activities, including the processes leading to the nomination of the party’s governorship candidate in Osun, are progressing as planned.
He disclosed that Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has duly obtained his nomination forms and successfully appeared before the screening panel set up by the national leadership of the PDP. According to him, all subsequent stages of the process will proceed in strict compliance with the party’s guidelines.
“The court’s decision does not halt or interfere with the ongoing political programmes of our great party,” Bisi said. “Our members should remain calm and focused as the leadership has already taken appropriate legal and administrative steps to address the matter.”
The Osun PDP, he added, has full confidence in the national leadership’s ability to resolve the issue amicably and within the ambit of the law.
Bisi also called on party members and stakeholders to intensify mobilisation efforts at the grassroots ahead of the 2026 governorship election slated for August 8.
“With unity, discipline, and faith in due process, our party will continue to stand as the true symbol of democracy, stability, and good governance in Osun and Nigeria at large,” the statement concluded.
