A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo, has formally resigned his membership of the ruling party.
In a resignation letter dated Saturday, November 1, 2025, and addressed to the Ward 1 Chairman of Isanlu Isin in Isin Local Government Area, Oyedepo cited irreconcilable political differences with the current administration of the state as the reason for his exit.
The respected politician, who played a pivotal role in the ‘Otoge’ movement that redefined Kwara’s political landscape in 2019, said his decision was taken in good conscience and in the interest of political fairness and personal conviction.
A copy of the letter obtained by Patriotic Insights News revealed that Oyedepo expressed disappointment with the direction of governance in the state, lamenting what he described as a deviation from the ideals that birthed the Otoge revolution.
His resignation marks a significant moment in the evolving political dynamics of Kwara State, with analysts predicting that his exit could trigger new realignments ahead of the next general elections.
Oyedepo, a former lawmaker and seasoned political strategist, is widely regarded as one of the most vocal advocates of good governance and internal party democracy in the state.
