US Lawmaker Alleges 7,000 Christians Killed in Nigeria This Year

A member of the United States Congress, Rep. Riley M. Moore, has claimed that about 7,000 Christians have been killed across Nigeria in 2025, describing the situation as a long-standing tragedy.

Speaking in a recent interview with Fox News, Moore said the violence against Christians has persisted “for decades without anyone talking about it.” He added that roughly 35 Nigerian Christians are killed every day.

Rep. Moore, alongside Senator Ted Cruz, has called on the US government to designate Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) over the alleged targeted killings.

However, the Nigerian presidency has repeatedly dismissed claims of religiously motivated attacks. Presidential media aide, Daniel Bwala, stated that the nation’s security challenges are not directed at any specific religion.

Despite these official denials, Moore maintained in the interview that immediate action is needed to protect Christians in Nigeria. “It’s a tragedy that cannot be ignored any longer. That’s why I sent a letter to Secretary Rubio to redesignate Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern. It’s time we took a stand to defend our brothers and sisters in Christ,” he said.
