Ningi: PDP restructuring in Ekiti will deliver victory in 2026

Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi says moves are underway to reposition the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

Ningi, Chairman of the PDP Congress Committee, spoke in Ado-Ekiti during the inauguration of the ad-hoc delegates for the party’s governorship primaries slated for November 8.

The delegates, drawn from the 177 wards across the 16 councils, consist of three persons per ward — two males and one female. Their task, according to him, is to supervise the primary, ensure proper documentation and guarantee a transparent process.

Addressing aspirants and stakeholders at the PDP Secretariat, the Bauchi Central lawmaker appealed to members to remain united, stressing that internal cohesion was critical if the opposition party must defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2026.

He said the party had learnt from its past errors and was committed to rebuilding a structure capable of returning it to power in the state.

“We are repositioning the PDP by strictly observing the rules and avoiding infractions. This party is beyond personalities. We have made mistakes before; we have recognised them and we are coming together again,” he said.

Also speaking, the Ekiti PDP chairman, Tunji Odeyemi, described the nomination exercise as pivotal to the success of the November 8 primary. He urged members to avoid actions that could trigger disunity.

Odeyemi assured that the party would build a durable structure with the cooperation of members and backing of the national leadership, expressing confidence that the PDP would reclaim the Government House in 2026.
