President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has granted a two-year extension to the tenure of the Surveyor-General of the Federation, Abdulganiyu Adebomehin.

A statement issued yesterday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, said the extension takes effect from January 5, 2026.

Onanuga noted that the decision followed the recent relocation of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGOF) to the Presidency.

He said President Tinubu is determined to see through the reforms already initiated by the Surveyor-General across key geospatial data sectors.

According to the statement, Adebomehin is expected within the next two years to consolidate reforms relating to national land administration, highway and abutting land coordination, reclamation and erosion control programmes, as well as other matters of strategic national relevance.

Adebomehin was first appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari with effect from January 5, 2022.
