APC Blasts Osun PDP Over ‘Violence, Misrule’ in State

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has fired a sharp salvo at the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accusing it of perpetuating violence and maladministration under Governor Ademola Adeleke.

In a statement signed by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the APC described the PDP-led administration as having “recorded abysmal failure in all facets of governance,” adding that the party’s recent criticisms were nothing more than a response to the ruling party’s misrule.

The APC’s rebuttal came after the PDP state chairman, Sunday Bisi, accused the opposition party of promoting crisis in the state. Olabisi dismissed the claims as “a figment of the imagination” and cited alleged violent acts by PDP members, including the recent arrest of a political thug from the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Osogbo, found with firearms and ammunition.

The statement also recalled past incidents of political violence linked to PDP operatives, including the killing of 17 people in Ijesaland and the assassination of reinstated local government chairman, Remi Abass, in Irewole Local Government Council. Several suspects are reportedly standing trial in Abuja.

The APC accused the PDP of being unsettled by the party’s victory in local government elections following a Court of Appeal ruling in February, and highlighted the internal divisions within the PDP at all levels, suggesting that the state chairman’s recent remarks were motivated by personal frustration.

Olabisi further emphasized that constructive criticism by the opposition should not be misconstrued as promoting crisis, urging the people of Osun to “discountenance the hoax rolled out by Mr Sunday Bisi,” and reaffirmed APC’s commitment to peace, rule of law, and governance.
