PDP National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu has petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS) and Inspector-General of Police (IGP) over alleged forgery of his signature on a letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Anyanwu, in petitions dated October 15 and submitted October 16, said his signature was cloned on a letter dated August 29, 2025, which notified INEC of the party’s planned November 15–16 National Convention in Ibadan.
He dissociated himself from the letter, describing it as “criminal forgery,” and urged security agencies to identify and prosecute all involved, including alleged collaborators within INEC. A copy of the disputed document was attached to his petitions.
The forgery row has compounded the raging internal battle between the bloc loyal to Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum and the camp of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike over control of the party ahead of the convention.
The party is also entangled in a pending suit at the Federal High Court, Abuja (FHC/ABJ/CS/2120/25), in which some state chairmen and zonal leaders accuse the Damagum-led NWC of violating the party constitution. The case, before Justice James Omotosho, was adjourned to October 20 after a dispute over legal representation for the party.
Factional tensions have been particularly fierce in South-South structures across Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Plateau and Imo — disputes that have already triggered multiple court actions.
