Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane delivered a decisive performance as the German giants edged Borussia Dortmund 2-1 on Saturday, ending the visitors’ unbeaten start to the Bundesliga season.
The victory marked Bayern’s seventh consecutive win in all competitions this season and extended their perfect start to 11 wins in 11 matches across all competitions. The result also keeps them firmly atop the Bundesliga table with 21 points, five ahead of second-placed RB Leipzig.
Kane opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a glancing header from a Joshua Kimmich corner, marking his 12th league goal in just seven games. Dortmund, who suffered their first defeat in 10 matches across all competitions, struggled to find rhythm in the first half but mounted a comeback attempt after the break. Felix Nmecha came close, and Karim Adeyemi missed a glaring chance in the 67th minute.
Bayern sealed the win in the 79th minute when Kane delivered a stunning 60-metre pass to Luis Diaz, who cut into the box for Olise to finish clinically. Dortmund pulled one back through Julian Brandt’s tap-in in the 84th minute, but it proved insufficient as Bayern held on for a crucial victory.
Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, Alex Grimaldo scored twice as Bayer Leverkusen defeated Mainz 4-3, extending their unbeaten run to eight games.
Bayern now turn their attention to the Champions League, where they host Club Brugge on Wednesday, while Dortmund travel to FC Copenhagen.
