Ondo Government’s Education Drive Bearing Fruit, Says Aiyedatiwa

Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to transforming the state’s education sector, describing it as the cornerstone of human development and societal progress.

The governor made this known on Monday, October 13, 2025, during the inauguration of the newly appointed members of the Ondo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) at the Cocoa Conference Centre, Governor’s Office, Akure.

Governor Aiyedatiwa said the event marked a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to strengthen the education system, stressing that education is the “light that guides the path to progress” and “the bridge between dreams and their realisation.”

“From the inception of this administration, we committed to repositioning education, not merely as a policy statement, but as a living promise to the children and youth of Ondo State,” he said.

The governor added that the appointments reflected the administration’s dedication to placing capable and competent individuals in key positions, noting that TESCOM plays a pivotal role in shaping the welfare and professional growth of teachers across the state.

“You are stepping into an agency that affects the lives of thousands of teachers and, by extension, the destinies of countless students. TESCOM is not just another board; it is the heart of our public education system,” Aiyedatiwa said, urging members to execute their duties with fairness, integrity, and commitment.

He also highlighted the administration’s achievements, including the recruitment of new teachers, renovation of school facilities, and enhanced monitoring mechanisms, stressing that these interventions have begun to yield positive results.

“The world is changing rapidly, and so must our teachers. A motivated teacher produces confident students, and confident students build a confident society. I was once a teacher and I know the dividends of that calling,” he said.

In his remarks, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, commended the governor for his visionary leadership, noting that Ondo State had maintained a national reputation for educational excellence. He cited recent national awards won by the state’s teachers as evidence of the progress being made.

The newly inaugurated TESCOM Chairman, Dr. Oluwadaisi Idowu Oke, in her acceptance speech, expressed gratitude to the governor for the appointment and pledged to uphold the trust reposed in her and her team.

The event was attended by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami; Chief of Staff, Prince Segun Omojuwa; members of the State Executive Council; legislators; former Governor Alhaji Ali Olanusi; traditional rulers; and other top government officials.
