Renowned Nigerian evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA), Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, is dead. He passed away on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80, the family announced on Monday.
In a statement titled “Glorious Transition,” the family described Ukpai as “a faithful soldier of the cross” who devoted more than six decades to evangelism, teaching of the Word, and prophetic ministry. His work, they said, touched millions of lives across Nigeria and beyond, bringing hope, healing, and salvation.
“Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai was a spiritual general, a founding father of faith, a loving husband, a devoted father, and a mentor to many. While we mourn his passing, we rejoice that he has completed his race and rests in eternal praise,” the statement read. Details of his funeral rites will be communicated in due course.
Hailing from Ohofia in Abia State, Ukpai’s ministry was marked by miracles, deliverances, and life transformations. He was also among the founding fathers of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), a body that unites Pentecostal and Charismatic churches in the country.
Ukpai leaves behind a lasting legacy as one of Nigeria’s most influential spiritual leaders.
