APC Chieftain Urges Service Chiefs to Intensify Fight Against Bandits

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has called on Nigeria’s service chiefs to adopt a more decisive and ruthless approach in tackling violent crimes and insurgency across the country.

Speaking with journalists on Sunday, Oyintiloye expressed concern over the rising attacks by suspected bandits in Kwara, Borno, Zamfara, and Niger States, stressing that security agencies must “take the bull by the horn” and go after both the perpetrators and their sponsors.

He lamented the pervasive fear gripping Nigerians despite ongoing security operations, insisting that service chiefs must not rest until the war against terrorism is won.

“The service chiefs are making efforts, but they must be more ruthless until insurgency is completely crushed,” Oyintiloye said. “They should also ensure that saboteurs within their ranks are identified to restore public confidence in the security agencies.”

Oyintiloye urged security agencies to engage local networks in intelligence gathering and to target the financial backbone of terrorist groups to complement ongoing operations.

He commended President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly for providing the necessary support and budgetary allocations to strengthen security efforts, noting that with collaboration among all stakeholders and patriotic engagement of Nigerians, the menace of insecurity could be defeated in due course.
