Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday, swore in ten newly appointed Permanent Secretaries and reshuffled eight serving ones, urging them to prioritize innovation, accountability, and teamwork in driving the state’s governance.
The ceremony, held at the Banquet Hall of the Lagos State House in Alausa, Ikeja, forms part of the Governor’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the civil service, which he described as the “engine room of government.”
Since assuming office in 2019, the Sanwo-Olu administration has appointed a total of 121 Permanent Secretaries, reflecting its commitment to continuous institutional renewal. Following the ceremony, the new appointees were immediately deployed to various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
Governor Sanwo-Olu charged them to embrace technology-driven reforms, enhance performance management, and ensure transparency in public service delivery. He said, “Our citizens expect a public service that is responsive, transparent, and powered by technology. We cannot continue doing things the old way and expect better results.”
He described Permanent Secretaries as “the crucial link between government policy and administrative execution,” urging them to “lead with purpose, act with empathy, and uphold the highest standards of integrity.”
The Head of Service, Bode Agoro, praised the appointees, describing them as “a distinguished group of technocrats” selected through a competitive process, including computer-based assessments, leadership training, and physical fitness evaluations.
Representing the new Permanent Secretaries, Dr Olufemi Omololu, deployed to Health District VI, assured the Governor of their commitment to a modern, efficient, and result-oriented civil service.
The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are:
Babatunde Mohammed Onigbanjo – Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment

Alaka Monsurat Titilope – Office of Internal Audit
Engr Oyenuga Olutokunbo Olayode – Office of Infrastructure
