The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun has called on the Nigeria Police Force to apprehend the Osun Amotekun Commandant, Mr. Adekunle Omoyele, over the recent killing of ten residents in Akinlalu, Ife North Local Government Area.

The killings, which occurred on October 1, 2025, reportedly saw Amotekun operatives storm the community, leaving several dead and many others injured.

In a statement signed by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the APC commended the police for sealing Amotekun operational bases in Osogbo and Ile-Ife, and for arresting about 20 operatives linked to the incident.

Omoyele, a retired Chief Superintendent of Police and former Chief Security Officer to Governor Ademola Adeleke, had previously been indicted by the Osun EndSARS Judicial Panel in 2020 for human rights violations and extra-judicial killings, with recommendations for prosecution and demotion.

The APC questioned Omoyele’s claim of narrowly escaping an attack in Osogbo, describing it as suspicious. The party asked why the commandant was reportedly moving without his usual security detail at 10:30 pm, coinciding with the police’s invitation for him to provide evidence of the alleged assault.

“The development suggests Omoyele may be attempting to evade investigation for his role in the Akinlalu massacre,” the statement said. “We urge the Inspector-General of Police to intensify efforts to apprehend him and ensure all perpetrators face the full weight of the law.”

The APC called for swift and transparent prosecution of those responsible for terrorising Osun communities under the guise of Amotekun, insisting that justice must prevail for the victims of the Akinlalu killings.
