ADC Declares 2027 Victory ‘Non-Negotiable’, Promises Legacy of Good Governance

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that failure in the 2027 general election is “not an option,” stressing its determination to compete and emerge victorious while building a lasting political legacy.

Speaking at the inaugural meeting of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) on Tuesday, ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark, said the party’s mission extends beyond merely winning power. “We are in a marathon. We must compete—and win. Failure is not an option,” he said.

ADC was formally endorsed as an opposition platform to challenge President Bola Tinubu during a July 2 meeting in Abuja. Its leadership under Senator Mark and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola was officially recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on September 10.

Mark warned against attempts to undermine Nigeria’s separation of powers. “The ADC will defend legislative and judicial independence. We will end parallel budgets and enforce strict planning, timely appropriations, and rigorous auditing,” he said. He also emphasised that judicial appointments would be merit-based and transparent, with time-bound rulings that prioritise justice over technicalities.

Outlining ADC’s approach to governance, Mark said the party would focus on practical policies to improve Nigerians’ lives. “We will stabilise prices, ensure reliable power, support agriculture, back small businesses, and enforce accountability. Our foreign policy will be Pan-African, fostering trade, regional integration, and peace,” he added.

He also highlighted the ADC’s commitment to internal democracy and teamwork. “Other parties revolve around individuals. The ADC will revolve around rules, policies, programmes, people, and results. Character, competence, courage, and discipline will guide us,” he said.

The event drew notable political figures, including National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal, and former Edo State Governor Oserheimen Osunbor.

Mark concluded: “We will convert empathy into policy, and policy into results. Nigerians are tired of empty slogans. We will deliver tangible change.”
