PDP National Secretary Fires Back at Ologunagba Over Role Dispute

PDP National Secretary Fires Back at Ologunagba Over Role Dispute

The National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Anyanwu, has hit back at the party’s Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, over comments that Anyanwu says misrepresent his role and could deepen divisions within the party.

Ologunagba had stated that the National Secretary’s duties are largely administrative, including managing day-to-day activities, handling correspondences, and implementing directives. He further asserted that Anyanwu cannot summon meetings or issue press statements without prior authorisation.

However, Anyanwu, through his media aide, Ikenna Onuoha, dismissed the claims as “ridiculous and ignorant,” insisting that the National Secretary’s responsibilities extend far beyond mere administrative tasks and are enshrined in the PDP Constitution.

Onuoha accused Ologunagba of lacking an understanding of the party’s constitutional provisions, specifically Section 36 (1) of the PDP Constitution (2017, as amended), which outlines the powers and functions of the National Secretary.

“This statement, if indeed from a supposed party spokesperson, indicates a glaring ignorance of the provisions regarding the duties, functions, and programmes of the office of the National Secretary,” Onuoha said.

He further urged Ologunagba to focus on strategies that would strengthen the party rather than engaging in rhetoric that fosters internal discord.

The exchange highlights lingering tensions within the PDP as party officials seek to clarify roles and responsibilities ahead of key political activities.
