Osun APC in Turmoil: Appointment Crisis and Threat Allegations Shake Party
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State is grappling with mounting internal tensions as allegations of political marginalization and violent threats expose deepening factional divides within the party.
Party members across the state have raised alarms over the alleged removal of their names from the list of Executive Assistants, Supervisory Assistants, and Special Assistants in several Local Government Areas (LGAs). Investigations indicate that most affected members, particularly from Ilesa, blame Engr. Remi Omowaiye, Executive Director of Project Implementation at the Federal Housing Authority and a presidential appointee. Sources claim the sidelining stems from their lack of alignment with the “AMBO” faction, which reportedly backs Bola Oyebamiji, Managing Director/CEO of the National Inland Waterways Authority, as the next governor of Osun State.
Further inquiries reveal that Oyebamiji is a key ally of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, and a major financier of the IleriOluwa camp. The controversy reportedly followed the release and disbursement of previously withheld funds to LGAs led by chairmen elected in 2022, known locally as the “Yes or No” chairmen. Protesters have threatened legal action, warning that failure to revisit the appointments could deepen divisions within the party ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial elections.
Tensions escalated over the weekend when Hon. Wale Adedoyin, a former member of the Osun State House of Assembly, was recorded allegedly issuing a death threat against fellow party member, Hon. Femi Onigbogi, during a political meeting in Ilesa West LGA. Onigbogi, a legal practitioner and former member of the Governing Council of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, was reportedly the target.
In the video obtained exclusively by Patriotic Insights News, Adedoyin is seen addressing party members in Yoruba: “Tell Femi Onigbogi not to come out; he should stay inside. If he comes out, he will be killed.” Efforts to reach both Adedoyin and Onigbogi for comment were unsuccessful at the time of publication.
Adedoyin, who previously served as Commissioner for Agriculture and represented Ilesa West Constituency in the State Assembly, has a history of facing allegations of anti-party conduct during past elections.
The combined effect of the appointment controversy and the threat allegation highlights the fragility of internal cohesion within Osun APC. Political analysts warn that without decisive intervention by party leadership, the ongoing rifts could destabilize APC’s electoral prospects in the state. Investigations into both developments are ongoing.
