Wole Oke Salutes Teachers, Lauds Tinubu’s Commitment to Education Reform

…Says teachers remain nation’s true builders

Chairman, House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke, has joined millions of Nigerians and the global community to celebrate teachers on the occasion of this year’s World Teachers’ Day, describing them as the true builders of the nation’s future and custodians of knowledge, discipline, and values.

In a statement personally signed by him on Sunday, Hon. Oke, who represents Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency of Osun State, paid glowing tributes to teachers across Nigeria for their resilience, patience, and dedication in moulding lives and shaping society despite daunting challenges.

“As one who was trained as a teacher and has benefited immensely from the dedication of teachers, I hold them in the highest esteem,” Oke said. “Teachers are my first constituency. Their unwavering commitment, often in difficult conditions, remains a shining example of selflessness and service to humanity.”

The lawmaker stressed that no nation can achieve meaningful progress without the sacrifices of teachers, noting that they form the foundation upon which great societies are built.

“Teachers shape young minds, mould character, and inspire dreams that drive innovation and leadership,” he added. “Without their sacrifices, no nation can truly progress or sustain development.”

Oke commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he called a renewed commitment to revitalising the education sector, especially through deliberate policies aimed at improving teacher welfare, training, and digital capacity.

According to him, the administration’s reforms show a clear understanding that no meaningful transformation can take place without motivated and well-equipped teachers.

He also urged the Federal Government to sustain and strengthen ongoing initiatives targeted at enhancing teacher development, remuneration, and infrastructure, noting that such efforts deserve collective support from all stakeholders.

“As a legislator, I remain steadfast in supporting education-friendly policies that promote a stronger and more equitable learning environment,” Oke said.

He called on state governments, local authorities, and private organisations to continue investing in teacher welfare, capacity building, and conducive teaching environments to ensure sustainable development.

“To all teachers in Osun State and across Nigeria, I celebrate you,” he declared. “You are the unsung heroes of our nation’s progress — the torchbearers who illuminate the path to a brighter tomorrow. Do not lose faith in your noble calling. The seeds you sow daily will continue to yield fruits in the generations you nurture.”

Oke, who chairs the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, concluded by expressing gratitude to teachers for their tireless service to the nation on behalf of his constituents in Obokun and Oriade.
