‘It’s My Turn!’ — Adelabu Declares 2027 Governorship Bid, Vows to Rescue Oyo from PDP

In a bold declaration that is already sending ripples through the political landscape of Oyo State, Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has thrown his hat into the ring for the 2027 governorship election under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Adelabu, who officially declared his ambition in July, insists his drive to lead the state is not about personal gain but a deep commitment to the welfare of the people, particularly the poor and less privileged.

In a fiery video message that began trending on Sunday, Adelabu spoke in his native Yoruba: “I have paid my dues. I contested alongside Seyi Makinde in 2019 and 2023. Today, I declare: it is our turn — it is my turn in 2027, as God has revealed it. Adelabu! Àwálòkàn! Penkelemesi Èmilòkàn! We will hit the ground running, door-to-door, and by the grace of God, victory is certain.”

Addressing APC stakeholders in Oke-Ogun Zone 2 — comprising Oorelope, Saki East, Saki West, Olorunsogo, Irepo, and Atisbo — the minister made it clear that party unity is non-negotiable.

“United APC owns Oyo State; PDP is merely a tenant in Agodi Government House. A divided house can never be victorious. APC will reclaim Oyo State in 2027. Internal democracy must prevail, starting from our upcoming congress. No one will be imposed on our party; we must stand together,” he said.

Adelabu’s emergence as a front-runner is already shaping up as a showdown within the APC, with political watchers predicting intense contests and realignments ahead of the 2027 elections. The minister’s message is clear: after years of political service, the Oyo electorate may soon have a familiar face ready to take the reins and steer the state toward development.
