President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday attended a church service at the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Jos, Plateau State, to pay his respects at the funeral of Nana Lydia Yilwatda, late mother of All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Prof. Nantewe Yilwatda Goshwe.

Tinubu, a practicing Muslim from Lagos State, is married to Mrs. Remi Tinubu, a Christian and ordained Assistant Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). His attendance at the service underscores his advocacy for religious tolerance in the country.

During his 2023 presidential campaign, Tinubu faced criticism for running on a Muslim-Muslim ticket, with many Nigerians calling for a northern Christian running mate to ensure balance and inclusiveness.

Observers noted that Tinubu’s presence at the funeral reflects his commitment to fostering interfaith respect and national unity.

Meanwhile, the burial of the APC National Chairman’s mother prevented Tinubu from visiting Abia State, according to Governor Umahi.
