Police Say Court Order on Tinted Glass Permit Not Yet Served
The Nigeria Police Force has stated that it has not yet been officially served with a court order directing a halt to the enforcement of the tinted glass permit
.
A Federal High Court sitting in Warri had on Friday ordered the police to suspend enforcement and maintain the status quo, urging the Force to respect ongoing judicial proceedings.
Reacting to a post on X by human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong, the Force’s Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, clarified that the police had not received the official court document.
Hundeyin also highlighted point 8 of the ruling, which stated that “Reliefs 1, 2, and 3 are hereby refused,” noting that many reports had focused only on point 6. He said:
“While we have not been officially served the court order, let me, in the meantime, show point no. 8 since you left that part out. Nigerians deserve a complete picture, not a skewed one.”
The police’s statement underscores that enforcement of the tinted glass permit will continue until the court order is formally served.
