Rivers JUSUN Chairman Booted Amid Alleged Misconduct

The Rivers State chapter of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has officially removed its chairman, Golden Ekprikpo Spiff, over alleged gross misconduct, ending months of uncertainty and internal disputes.

Spiff had been suspended earlier by the state branch, a move later ratified by the National Working Committee (NWC) in June. His ouster was finalized at the union’s September congress, with the Vice Chairman, Princes Fyne Backo, stepping in as Acting Chairman.

According to former State Chairman Anthony Nwachukwu, Spiff ignored invitations to appear before the investigative panel, forcing the union to take decisive action. “Workers’ welfare had been neglected under his leadership. Progress stalled, and salaries went unpaid. Enough was enough,” Nwachukwu said.

Since assuming office, Backo has taken swift steps to address pending issues. Within a week, unpaid salaries for August were disbursed, and long-standing union matters are being resolved.

The Acting Chairman will hold office until the end of the current tenure, while the investigative panel completes its review.
