Kawu Blasts Political Opponents Over Fraud Allegations, Calls Claims ‘Baseless’

Former REA Director, Engr. Sulaiman Bolakale Kawu Agaka, has hit back at allegations linking him to the alleged diversion of COVID-19 intervention funds, describing the claims as politically motivated and designed to tarnish his reputation.

In a statement released by his media office and obtained by Patriotic Insights News, Agaka Dan Iya of Ilorin Emirate and Hasken Lafiagi of Lafiagi Emirate — said the accusations were a desperate attempt by political rivals unsettled by his rising popularity in Kwara State.

He emphasized that federal anti-graft agencies had investigated the matter thoroughly and cleared him of any wrongdoing. “At no point was Engr. Kawu indicted, reprimanded, or invited by the EFCC or ICPC. That alone proves his name was never linked to any wrongdoing,” the statement read.

The media office also questioned the credibility of the Movement for Public Accountability (MPA), describing it as a faceless organisation with contradictory claims, and accused it of being a political tool aimed at undermining Agaka’s influence.

Agaka further clarified that, as a Director at REA, he served under the Executive Director and Managing Director, and never had the authority to make unilateral decisions on project funding or disbursement.

“Engr. Kawu is a technocrat of proven integrity and a philanthropist whose grassroots acceptance cannot be shaken by baseless claims,” the statement added, urging the public to disregard the allegations and focus on pressing issues like insecurity and governance challenges in Kwara State.

The statement concluded by reaffirming Agaka’s commitment to the development of Kwara State and Nigeria, insisting that orchestrated falsehoods will not derail his mission.
