Atiku: I Can Step Aside for Younger ADC Presidential Candidate in 2027
Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) stalwart, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed his readiness to step aside in the 2027 presidential race for a younger, dynamic, and widely acceptable candidate under the party.
In a Wednesday interview with BBC Hausa Service, Atiku said his ambition for 2027 is not personal, but aimed at providing Nigerians with a credible alternative to rescue the country from mismanagement.
He called on young Nigerians to actively engage in politics, promising his full support should a youthful candidate emerge as the ADC flagbearer.
“I am not desperate for the presidency. My goal is to rescue Nigeria from those who have held it hostage. If a vibrant and widely accepted younger candidate comes forward, I am willing to step aside,” Atiku stated.
The former Vice President also dismissed claims that his 2027 ambition is self-serving, stressing that his focus remains on ensuring effective leadership for the nation.
