Atiku Blames APC for PDP Turmoil, Says Party Leaders ‘Complicit’
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of orchestrating the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by exploiting some of its senior leaders.
In an interview with BBC Hausa, Atiku claimed the APC was using top PDP officials to weaken the opposition and derail efforts to unify the party.
“Some senior members were allegedly being used by the government to further destabilise the party, and we could see that in their actions and utterances,” he said.
Atiku, now with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said his hands were tied within PDP as he held no formal leadership position. “I was influential but not the chairman or secretary. I engaged them in dialogue, yet personal interests prevailed,” he added.
On his future political plans, he remained non-committal about contesting the presidency under ADC. “When the time comes, we shall see,” he said.
Reflecting on Nigeria @65, Atiku acknowledged progress in education, transport, and roads, but noted the country is still far from reaching its potential.
