The Worst Is Over, Nigeria! — Tinubu Declares in Independence Day Address
President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the country’s darkest days are behind it, declaring that the nation has finally “turned the corner” toward economic recovery and stability.
In his Independence Day broadcast today to mark Nigeria’s 65th anniversary, Tinubu hailed the resilience of Nigerians while highlighting the bold reforms his administration has undertaken. He pointed to the removal of the fuel subsidy and the unification of foreign exchange as key measures that are now beginning to yield results.
“The worst is over. Yesterday’s pains are giving way to relief,” the president said, pledging to continue steering Nigeria toward a prosperous future.
Tinubu recalled that his administration inherited a near-collapsed economy weakened by decades of fiscal mismanagement and policy distortions. He stressed that decisive action was needed to prevent Nigeria from sliding further into crisis.
The president emphasized that funds are now being redirected to key sectors such as education, healthcare, national security, agriculture, and critical infrastructure including roads, power, broadband, and social investment programmes.
“We are racing against time. All hands must be on deck to fast-track development and deliver the promise of a greater Nigeria,” he said, urging Nigerians to support the government’s development agenda.
