PDP Flags N12.75bn Osun LG Fund Scam, Urges Police Probe

The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the Inspector-General of Police to probe an alleged scheme by court-sacked APC chairmen to illegally pay out N12.75 billion of local government funds as legal fees.

In a statement made available to journalists today, PDP State Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, said a leaked letter showed one ex-chairman instructing UBA to pay a law firm 15 per cent of allocations recently credited to council accounts.

“The APC ex-chairmen in all 30 councils issued similar instructions. Fifteen percent of N85 billion – about N12.75 billion – was to be paid out. Luckily, an Oyo State High Court injunction last Friday stopped them,” Hon. Bisi said.

He also alleged that non-council staff were illegally appointed as treasurers and co-signatories, including a non-teaching staff from a private polytechnic. The letters were described as irrevocable instructions to deduct payments from February to September 2025.

“The APC is violating the law and trampling on the constitution despite ongoing Supreme Court cases. This is outright impunity,” Bisi added.

The PDP has demanded immediate criminal investigations and that all perpetrators be held accountable.
