Democracy Champions to Shine: Jonathan, Wike, Bamidele Set for Top Honour
Former President Goodluck Jonathan, Senate Majority Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike are among prominent Nigerians set to be honoured at the 2025 Democracy Heroes Awards Africa.
The ceremony, organised by Face of Democracy Nigeria Projects (FDN Projects), will hold on October 16 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, under the theme: “Legacy of Leadership: Powering Africa’s Future.”
Olufunsho Ajagbonna, project director of FDN, said the awards celebrate leaders whose initiatives have deepened democratic culture and advanced national development. He added that entrepreneurs, business leaders, and entertainers who have empowered youths, created jobs, and contributed to societal stability will also be recognised.
Other distinguished honourees include Sani Musa, Senator representing Niger East; Duma Gideon Boko, President of Botswana; and governors from Borno, Cross River, Ondo, Oyo, Katsina, Delta, Ebonyi, Kaduna, and Kebbi states.
The event promises to spotlight the legacies of leaders who have shaped democracy and governance in Nigeria and across Africa, reinforcing the continent’s future through exemplary leadership.
