Court Halts 2025/2026 Admissions in UNILAG, OAU
A Federal High Court sitting in Enugu has ordered the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to suspend all admission activities for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The order, issued by Justice A.T. Segun-Bello on Tuesday, followed an ex-parte motion filed by a group of candidates—Chibuzor Success, Oyeleye Zainab Ayomide, Adedeji John Samuel, Monsura Aliat Aduragbem, and Bassey Daniel Nsikak—representing other applicants affected by the 2025 post-UTME examinations of both universities.
The plaintiffs had sought interim injunctions restraining the universities and JAMB from releasing, approving, uploading, or finalizing any admission list for the new session.
Ruling on the application, Justice Segun-Bello noted that a “veritable and triable issue” exists, necessitating that both sides be heard. He directed the applicants to formally notify the respondents and ordered all parties to maintain the status quo regarding the 2025/2026 admission lists pending the hearing of the substantive motion.
The matter has been adjourned to October 28, 2025, for further hearing.
