Respect the Law: Sanwo-Olu Threatens Action Against Attacks on Enforcement Officials
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has warned residents against attacking government enforcement officers, stressing that verbal or physical assaults will not be tolerated. He urged Lagosians to channel complaints through proper government platforms rather than confront officials on duty.
The appeal was made at the 2025 Stakeholders’ Engagement on Physical Planning, themed “Planning Permit: The Rebirth”, organized by the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA). Governor Sanwo-Olu was represented by his Deputy Chief of Staff, Sam Egube.
“Residents are warned against verbal or physical attacks on officials. Aggrieved members of the public should channel complaints through established government platforms. Civility, dialogue, and adherence to due process are hallmarks of a functional society committed to sustainable development,” he said.
The governor assured that his administration remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the protection of both citizens and enforcement officers, as Lagos continues to build a resilient city.
Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Olumide Oluyinka, echoed the governor’s sentiments, reiterating the government’s determination to safeguard lives and property.
“Despite the challenges faced by LASPPPA officials during enforcement operations, the government will not relent in ensuring that no physical development occurs in the state without the required approvals,” Oluyinka stated.
