Osun APC Hits NULGE, Accuses Labour Union of PDP Alignment
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the state branch of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) of political bias, following claims about delayed federal allocations to local councils.
In a statement, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, Osun State APC Director of Media and Information, described a press briefing by NULGE president Comrade Kehinde Nathaniel Ogungbangbe on Sunday as “a series of lies and deliberate ignorance” over council funds.
The APC said interpreting court judgements is not NULGE’s duty. It noted that the Court of Appeal’s 10 February 2025 judgement reinstating APC local government chairmen and councillors remains valid, with no record of any appeal. The party also clarified that federal allocations go directly into council accounts, not to individual officials.
The statement accused NULGE of aligning with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), pointing to a seven-month “sympathy strike” with Governor Ademola Adeleke, allegedly aimed at pursuing partisan interests. APC urged union members to support governance at the grassroots rather than follow union executives’ political agenda.
The party also called on security agencies including police, DSS, and Civil Defence to remain vigilant to protect public peace. Olabisi warned NULGE to shun “brigandage and crisis,” emphasising that Osun State is governed under the rule of law.
