Wike Flags Off 10.5km Road Project in Karsana, Abuja

Wike Flags Off 10.5km Road Project in Karsana, Abuja

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Friday officially commenced the construction of a 10.5-kilometre road network in Karsana District, Abuja, aimed at improving connectivity and supporting the nearly 3,000-unit Renewed Hope Estate.

The roads—identified as N11, N16, N40, and SILS 03—are expected to ease traffic congestion, attract investors, and provide vital access to residential and commercial developments in the district.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Wike said the project reflects the Bola Tinubu administration’s focus on infrastructure as a driver of national prosperity.

“Today, we mark another milestone under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises infrastructure that transforms communities and strengthens city planning,” Wike said.

He noted that road networks are fundamental to urban development, stressing that social amenities such as hospitals and schools are ineffective without adequate road access.

Wike also commended Lubricks Construction Company for mobilising to site even before the formal release of funds, describing it as a demonstration of confidence in the FCT Administration. He assured that financing would continue to ensure completion of the project in time for President Tinubu’s third-year anniversary in office.

Nancy S. Nathan, Acting Head of Service of the FCT, praised the road project as a strategic intervention that would boost connectivity between Karsana and other parts of Abuja, ease traffic congestion, and promote commercial and residential growth.

“The significance of this project cannot be overstated. It is a critical step towards making Abuja a modern city while ensuring sustainable development for future generations,” Nathan said.

The Karsana road project is part of the Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to deliver tangible infrastructure projects that enhance the quality of life and stimulate investor confidence in the nation’s capital.
