US Ambassador Praises Otti’s Leadership Backs Abia’s Growth Agenda

US Ambassador Praises Otti’s Leadership, Backs Abia’s Growth Agenda

The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills, has applauded Governor Alex Otti of Abia State for his leadership style, describing it as a model for effective governance and sustainable development.

Ambassador Mills made the remarks during a visit to the governor’s residence in Nvosi on Friday evening, commending the administration’s achievements in infrastructure development and security management.

“Governor Otti’s leadership has brought real, positive change to Abia. His focus on infrastructure and addressing security challenges has transformed the state,” Mills said.

He further emphasized the strategic importance of Abia State and the Southeast region for U.S. commercial and business interests, citing opportunities for investment.

“The governor’s commitment to economic growth, youth empowerment, and transparent governance aligns perfectly with what U.S. investors seek,” he added.

Governor Otti received the ambassador warmly, describing the visit as an affirmation of his administration’s efforts.

“It is a rare honor for the American Government to visit a state. This is a strong endorsement of our progress,” Otti said.

The governor also expressed readiness to collaborate with the United States across various sectors, highlighting Abia’s potential as the “SME capital of Nigeria.” He showcased reforms in healthcare, education, waste management, SMEs, and digital technology.

Otti stressed the state’s dedication to transparency, referencing a forensic audit of the previous administration’s records.

“We are not into witch-hunting; the audit was necessary to understand our starting point and how resources were previously utilized,” he explained.

The audit revealed several public insights that are still being addressed by the administration.

The Patriotic Insights News reports that Ambassador Mills’ visit underscores the U.S. government’s interest in deepening partnership with Abia State. Governor Otti’s leadership has earned recognition both nationally and internationally, positioning Abia as a hub for economic growth and innovation.
