EFCC Chairman Urges New Cadets to Uphold Integrity and Discipline

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has called on newly commissioned cadets of the Commission to place integrity, discipline, and accountability at the core of their duties as anti-corruption operatives.

Speaking at the Passing Out Parade of 404 cadets at the Nigeria Police Mobile Force Training College, Ende Hills, Akwanga, Nasarawa State, Olukoyede described their roles as “heavy with responsibility and demands for personal discipline.”

The cadets, comprising 294 detective superintendents and 110 detective inspectors, were charged to embrace a patriotic disposition and maintain the highest ethical standards.

“Being an EFCC operative requires courage, integrity, and accountability. The Commission has zero tolerance for corruption and compromise. You are entering an institution that places a premium on integrity and rectitude,” Olukoyede said.

He emphasized that integrity is not merely a slogan but “an article of faith” in the Commission’s work. “Nothing can be truer than the principle that one cannot offer the nation what one does not possess. Anti-corruption officers must be above reproach at all times,” he added.

Olukoyede also highlighted the Commission’s investment in their training, stating that it equips cadets to perform at international standards. “Our officers are trained to match and even surpass their global counterparts. You are now part of a system built on intellect, physical agility, courage, and accountability,” he said.

The EFCC chairman further noted that tackling corruption requires the commitment of every patriotic Nigerian. He urged the new officers to surpass existing records of achievement in their respective units, asserting that, through collective determination, the nation can break the cycle of graft.

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, who served as the Reviewing Officer at the parade, congratulated the cadets for their resilience and determination. “After witnessing your performance today, we are confident that the future of Nigeria is bright,” he said.

The Passing Out Parade marks a significant step in the Commission’s ongoing efforts to strengthen law enforcement and institutionalize integrity among its officers.
