The Oro-Ago Development Union (ODU) has strongly condemned the recent spate of kidnappings and killings in Oro-Ago community, Kwara State, following an attack by armed bandits on Thursday.

The union, in a statement on behalf of the Oloro of Oro-Ago Kingdom, Oba Johnson Olarewaju Dada, expressed shock and deep sorrow over the tragic incident that claimed the life of Chief David Depo Aina, also known as Kebe, a prominent community leader.

Describing the attack as “cruel and barbaric,” the union said the act was not only targeted at the deceased and his family but also constituted an assault on the peace, security, and dignity of the entire community.

“We condemn in the strongest terms this heinous crime and call on the relevant security agencies to act swiftly to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice,” the statement said.

The union also urged all levels of government to intensify efforts to curb the rising insecurity across communities, stressing that residents deserve to live peacefully and carry out their daily activities without fear.

On behalf of the Oloro-in-Council and the entire Oro-Ago Kingdom, the union commiserated with the bereaved family, praying for the fortitude to bear the painful loss.
