Jonathan’s Meeting With ADC Leaders Signals Push for National Rebuilding, Says Onnochie
Former presidential aide, Lauretta Onnochie, has welcomed the recent meeting between former President Goodluck Jonathan and leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing it as a step towards national renewal.
Jonathan, who served as Nigeria’s president from 2010 to 2015, met with the ADC leadership on Thursday at the Abuja residence of the party’s interim national chairman, Senator David Mark.
Reacting in a Facebook post, Onnochie said the engagement underscored the value of experience in Nigeria’s political reawakening.
“This looks good. This is why we are in the coalition. Not as saints. Those who have led before, made mistakes and have learned from their errors would definitely be great for the future of our nation,” she wrote.
She praised Jonathan’s post-presidency role as a regional envoy, noting: “President Jonathan has done well since 2015 working with President Buhari as our envoy to West Africa. It would be good to have him join Senator David Mark, Atiku Abubakar, Rauf Aregbesola, Chibuike Amaechi, Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai, Abubakar Malami, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, and others, to rebuild our nation. A new Nigeria beckons.”
Jonathan’s meeting with the ADC leadership has stirred renewed political speculation ahead of the 2027 general election, with some stakeholders interpreting the move as part of wider coalition-building among opposition and reform-minded figures.
