APC to Kwankwaso: Only Our Structure Can Secure Your Political Future

APC to Kwankwaso: Only Our Structure Can Secure Your Political Future

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday urged Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to abandon what it described as a “regional political experiment” and realign with the ruling party if he intends to remain relevant in national politics.

Lagos APC spokesman, Seye Oladejo, in a statement, said Kwankwaso’s New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) lacks the spread, depth and resilience to compete in today’s political environment.

“The truth, which even Kwankwaso cannot deny, is that the NNPP has become little more than a spirited but narrow regional experiment without the strength to thrive nationally,” Oladejo said.

He added that for a politician of Kwankwaso’s stature, only the APC offers the formidable structure and national outlook capable of amplifying his relevance and securing his legacy.

According to him, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lost credibility through internal wrangling and declining public trust, while other parties remain “scattered bands of frustrated defectors.”

The appeal comes amid reports that Kwankwaso, the NNPP’s 2023 presidential candidate and former Kano State governor, is weighing a possible return to the APC a party he helped establish in 2013 before defecting.

Kwankwaso had last week declared in Kano that he was open to talks with the ruling party but insisted on “strong promises” and clear guarantees for the future of the NNPP’s structures and supporters.

“We will not accept any arrangement where we are used and dumped,” he warned, stressing that the NNPP has gubernatorial candidates and full structures across the federation.

While the Lagos APC insists that realignment with the ruling party is Kwankwaso’s only viable path to sustained political influence, the NNPP leader maintains that any talks must be on negotiated terms that protect his base.
