1,022 Corps Members Begin National Service in Bauchi

No fewer than 1,022 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have been sworn in for the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II orientation exercise in Bauchi State.

The corps members, made up of 497 males and 525 females, were registered out of 1,900 deployed to the state.

Speaking at the ceremony held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Wailo, Ganjuwa Local Government Area, the Director-General of NYSC, Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Nafiu, reiterated the commitment of the scheme to providing community development services, especially in rural communities.

Represented by the State Coordinator, Mr. Umoren Kufre, Nafiu urged the corps members to adhere strictly to the orientation timetable, bye-laws and extant rules of the scheme. He warned that violations would attract appropriate sanctions.

The DG commended Governor Bala Mohammed for renovating hostels at the camp and constructing a multi-purpose hall, describing the gesture as a demonstration of his love for youth and the NYSC scheme.

In his remarks, Governor Mohammed, represented by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Adamu Gabarin, reminded the corps members that the scheme was designed to foster national unity and integration.

He charged them to make the best use of the opportunity, noting that the orientation course was structured to develop them physically, mentally and intellectually.

“May I urge you to justify the trust the nation has in you and take the lead in advocating for national development and transformation,” the governor said.

The oath of allegiance was administered by the State Chief Judge, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar, represented by a judge of the High Court.
