Jonathan: I hold no grudges, forgiveness is key to national unity

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has declared that he bears no grudges against anyone despite past actions directed at him.

Jonathan, who spoke at a requiem mass held in honour of former Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh, in Abuja on Wednesday, said forgiveness and reconciliation remain vital for political stability and national cohesion.

He described Ogbeh as a man of humility and reconciliation whose values mirrored his own disposition.

“Chief Ogbeh never sought revenge. He believed the past should be left behind and that the country must always move forward. In that sense, he was just like me. If you hurt me today, I will forgive you. I don’t carry grudges against anybody. I believe the past is past, and I move on,” Jonathan said.

The former president stressed that a spirit of forgiveness is essential in building peace and development across the country.
