Bauchi Civil Service Ousts Two Officials Over Forgery, Elevates Several Others

The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission has dismissed two senior officials for forging official documents, reinforcing its commitment to integrity and accountability within the public service.

According to a statement by the Information and Public Relations Officer of the commission, Saleh Umar, the dismissed officials—Administrative Officer Yusuf Ningi and Principal Executive Officer I Suleiman Ahmed—were previously posted to the Government House from the Office of the Head of Civil Service. Their actions violated State Public Service Rule 0327 (ii, iii, and vi), which prohibits forgery and falsification of official records.

“The dismissal was formalised during the Commission’s 35th plenary on September 23, 2025, and takes immediate effect,” the statement said.

In a parallel move, the commission approved the promotion of several senior officers. Three substantive directors were elevated, and four deputy directors were promoted to directors. Those promoted include officers in administration, human resources, audit, planning, research and statistics, civil litigation, and land and valuation. Eight chief state counsel and a chief land officer were also elevated to deputy director.

Chairman of the commission, Ibrahim Muhammad, urged civil servants to strictly adhere to Public Service Rules and ethical guidelines. “Following laid-down procedures is crucial to eliminating unlawful practices and enhancing corruption-free service delivery,” he said, congratulating the newly promoted officers and calling for continued diligence.

This action follows the dismissal of an education officer on September 11 for gross misconduct involving sexual harassment, highlighting the commission’s ongoing efforts to enforce discipline and professionalism in the Bauchi State civil service.

All decisions at the plenary were based on recommendations from the Office of the Head of Civil Service.
