Tinubu’s Mandate intact , APC Tells ADC

Tinubu’s Mandate Intact, APC Tells ADC

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed as “wishful thinking” the African Democratic Congress (ADC)’s prediction that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will serve only one term in office.

In a statement on Wednesday, signed by its spokesman, Seye Oladejo, the ruling party described the opposition’s claim as “idle talk,” insisting that the President’s performance, political pedigree and track record of service have placed him firmly on the path of lasting relevance.

Oladejo said:

> “It is rather convenient for a party that has never won elections at the national level to begin to script imaginary scenarios about the tenure of a leader whose sagacity, track record, and capacity to deliver are beyond question.”

According to him, the Tinubu administration is laying a solid foundation for sustainable development and has already introduced bold, people-centred policies that previous governments lacked the courage to pursue.

The Lagos APC cited recent electoral victories as evidence of growing national support for the President, describing them as a “referendum on Tinubu’s leadership.”

The statement also mocked the ADC, branding it “an association of serial defectors on political life support,” while urging Nigerians to ignore distractions from “political lightweights.”

> “As our people say, the hen’s cackle does not stop the sunrise. No amount of idle chatter from the ADC can derail the historic mandate and steady leadership of President Tinubu,” the APC added.

The rebuttal followed a statement released by the ADC on Tuesday, in which its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, declared that President Tinubu would leave office in 2027.

The ADC accused the administration of failure across multiple fronts, including national security, the economy, power supply, human rights, and social development. It alleged that insecurity had worsened to the point where bandits operate with impunity, levying taxes on rural communities, while the Federal Government continues to impose heavy taxes on citizens.

On the economy, the ADC pointed to a weakened naira, runaway inflation, and the collapse of the middle class. It further accused the government of wasteful spending, inconsistency in policy direction, and secrecy in governance.

The party also alleged that the Tinubu administration has become authoritarian, disobeying court orders, harassing journalists, and clamping down on peaceful protesters.

According to the ADC, the real contest in 2027 will not be between APC and ADC, but between the APC and Nigerians.

It urged citizens to resist what it termed a “life presidency agenda” and prepare for a political transition.
