Ganduje Reconnects with Former LG Chairmen, Eyes 2027 Political Play

Former Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has convened a meeting with the 44 local government chairmen who served during his administration, signaling what political observers describe as early moves ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The meeting, held in Kano, revived long-standing ties between Ganduje and the local government leadership that was central to his governance. The chairmen, who served under the then Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, described the gathering as both a reunion and a demonstration of solidarity.

Political analysts see the engagement as part of Ganduje’s strategy to strengthen his grassroots network and consolidate support for the upcoming elections. While the details of the closed-door talks remain undisclosed, sources indicate that discussions centered on unity, strategic planning, and the political direction of the state ahead of 2027.

The chairmen reportedly pledged loyalty to Ganduje and affirmed their readiness to back his political initiatives as both state and national dynamics evolve.

Since leaving office in 2023, Ganduje has remained an influential figure within the ruling party. His ability to reconnect with local leaders, many of whom wield considerable influence in their domains, is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping Kano’s political landscape.

A political analyst noted, “No serious political player aiming for 2027 can underestimate the power of local government structures. Ganduje’s meeting shows his understanding of grassroots mobilization.”

With Kano continuing to hold strategic importance in national politics, attention is likely to remain focused on Ganduje’s moves as preparations for the 2027 elections gain momentum
