Business Mogul Oskar Ibru Dies at 67
Olorogun Oskar Ibru, chairman of the Ibru Organisation and prominent Nigerian industrialist, has died at the age of 67, his family announced on Wednesday.
Ibru reportedly passed away after a brief illness, although details surrounding his death were not disclosed.
A leading figure in Nigeria’s corporate landscape, Ibru played a pivotal role in sustaining and expanding the business empire established by his late father, Olorogun Michael Ibru. The conglomerate spans shipping, oil and gas, real estate, and commerce.
His death comes nearly a decade after the passing of Michael Ibru in 2016. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in due course.
Reacting to the news, media entrepreneur and publisher of Ovation International, Dele Momodu, described Ibru as “an extremely friendly gentleman and a socialite par excellence.” In an Instagram post, Momodu said: “One of Nigeria’s most recognisable businessmen, Olorogun Oskar Ibru, has passed on… Rest in peace, dear brother.”
