Yusuf Reshuffles Cabinet, Reassigns Top Civil Servants
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has approved a minor reshuffle in his cabinet and adjustments in senior civil service postings to enhance efficiency in governance and service delivery.
The governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, in a statement on Monday night, said the changes affected the Ministries of Justice, Transport, Environment and Humanitarian Affairs.
Under the new arrangement, Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Haruna Isa Dederi, will now head the Ministry of Transport. The Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of the Justice Ministry, Mustapha Nuruddeen Muhammad, has been redeployed as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment.
The Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, who had been overseeing the Transport portfolio in an acting capacity, will now return fully to her substantive office.
Governor Yusuf directed the affected officials to hand over to the most senior officers in their respective ministries and complete the transition process by Tuesday, September 23.
According to the statement, the governor said the shake-up was necessary to “strengthen government’s ability to deliver on its promises to the people of Kano State.”
