APC Chieftain Urges Politicians to Stop Distracting Tinubu

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Hycienth Ngwu, has called on politicians to stop creating unnecessary political tension that could distract President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other government officials from delivering on their mandate.

Ngwu, a former South-East Publicity Secretary of the APC, gave the advice while speaking with journalists in Enugu on Tuesday.

He praised President Tinubu for his handling of Nigeria’s political and economic affairs, noting that recent policies had yielded significant results.

“His prompt removal of fuel subsidies has unlocked substantial funds for all tiers of government. These funds are now being deployed across critical sectors, evident in infrastructural projects, empowerment initiatives, and other transformative programmes nationwide,” Ngwu said.

He highlighted that the economy is recording steady growth, with the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) exceeding four per cent for the first time in decades, while the Naira continues to strengthen against major foreign currencies.

Ngwu also noted improvements in food inflation, which he described as steadily declining, reflecting stabilisation in the economy.

On the recent lifting of emergency rule in Rivers State, Ngwu commended President Tinubu’s intervention, which he said restored democratic order and political stability.

“Governor Simi Fubara resumed office after six months of suspension. The timely action by the President to declare a state of emergency in Rivers was crucial in preserving democracy. Yet, opposition politicians continue to politicise the matter unnecessarily,” he said.

He urged political actors to prioritise the interests of Nigerians over personal or party ambitions and to support President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Ngwu further called on citizens to extend similar support to other elected officials to ensure the delivery of democratic dividends.
