Okonkwo: ADC’ll Take Power from Tinubu in 2027
Veteran Nollywood actor and politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, has declared that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise programme yesterday, Okonkwo insisted that the ADC has what it takes to defeat the President Bola Tinubu-led administration, despite its poor outing in the recent by-elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had announced APC as the winner of 12 out of 16 legislative seats contested across nine states during the August 16 polls. ADC failed to win a single seat.
Unfazed by the setback, Okonkwo maintained that the “true test” of the party lies ahead.
“We stand a chance in every election in Nigeria,” he said. “But I wouldn’t say the same thing for contests whose primaries were held before the coming of David Mark’s leadership. The real battle for ADC is in 2027. We are going to form the next government in Nigeria and send Tinubu to Bourdillon.”
On the party’s structure, Okonkwo disclosed that the ADC has presence in all 36 states, naming former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, as the leader of the party in Rivers State.
He urged Nigerians not to judge the party by the recent by-election results, but rather by the strength of its current leadership and national spread.
