AbdulRazaq Names Popoola CMD as Omu-Aran Hospital Becomes Teaching Facility
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has approved the appointment of Professor Ademola Alabi Popoola as the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the newly designated Thomas Adewumi Teaching Hospital, Omu-Aran.
The appointment follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the state government and Thomas Adewumi University, Oko, which formally upgraded the General Hospital, Omu-Aran, into the university’s teaching hospital.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, described the development as a strategic step to strengthen healthcare delivery and medical education in the state.
“Prof. Popoola’s appointment will provide visionary leadership that will drive the hospital towards global standards in medical training, research, and service delivery,” she said.
She added that the move was “a bold initiative which will not only elevate Thomas Adewumi University’s medical training programmes but also expand access to quality healthcare services for the people of Kwara and beyond.”
A statement issued by Saad Hamdalat, Press Secretary, Ministry of Health, noted that the appointment underscores the AbdulRazaq administration’s commitment to building “a healthier, stronger, and more prosperous future” for the state.
