ICPC, Benue Govt Forge Alliance Against Corruption

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has strengthened its collaboration with the Benue State Government in the fight against corruption and promotion of good governance.

Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner of ICPC in Benue, Mr. Mustapha Wala, disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Lands, Survey, Urban and Regional Planning, Rev. (Dr.) Fredrick Ikyaan, in Makurdi.

Wala said the Commission was ready to partner with ministries and agencies on key areas such as system study and review, corruption risk assessment, as well as sustained public enlightenment and sensitisation campaigns.

“Fighting corruption requires a multi-stakeholder approach, and our partnership with ministries and agencies is key to plugging leakages and strengthening accountability structures,” he said.

In his response, Ikyaan commended ICPC’s proactive and preventive style, describing it as distinct from other law enforcement agencies.

“What sets ICPC apart is its openness, approachability, and preventive mandates. This gives us confidence that a strong synergy with the Commission will yield long-lasting impact,” he said.

Ikyaan further pledged the ministry’s support, assuring that cooperation with ICPC would enhance public trust in governance.

The visit ended with both parties reaffirming their commitment to deepen collaboration for transparency, accountability, and integrity in land administration and other sectors of the state.
